Compress video in your browser

The file never leaves your device. No signup, and no upload on the free lane.

Target
What does “never uploaded” mean?

Your browser reads the file from your disk and re-encodes it with its own video encoder. The video is not sent to our servers or anyone else's.

You can check it yourself: open your browser's network tab, compress a clip, and look for any request that carries the video. The badge appears only after a job that ran this way. Jobs on the server option below do upload the file, and they never show the badge.

Need more than the browser can do?

The server lane uploads your file to be encoded, which is why the paid features need an account. The free in-browser lane above never does.

  • Big file

The browser lane stops at 2 GB. The server lane is a paid-plan feature, used through the REST API. Paid plans take files up to 4 GB.

  • Exact target size

Hitting a size to the megabyte is a paid-plan feature: Standard ($9/mo) and Heavy ($19/mo). The free tier does not include it.

  • Batch

Paid plans compress up to 10 files in one batch.

Checking your account...

Two lanes, and which one touches your file

Most video compressors upload first and ask questions later. This one starts in your browser and only uses a server when you choose to.

Free lane: in your browser

  • Your video is compressed on your own device. It is not uploaded.
  • No signup and no card.
  • Aim for a size: Discord (20 MB), email (25 MB), or any number of megabytes you type in. The result is checked to come in under it.
  • Files up to 2 GB, limited by your browser's memory.

Server lane: for big files and exact sizes

  • The file is uploaded, encoded on our server, and deleted within 24 hours.
  • Paid plans only, through the REST API. The free plan is the browser lane.
  • From $9 a month: files up to 4 GB, exact target size, and API access.
