Compress an MP4 video

Choose an MP4 and get a smaller file back, compressed on your own device. No upload, no signup.

Compress without sending the file anywhere

Most online compressors make you upload the whole video first. This one does the work in your browser, so a private clip stays on your device from start to finish.

If you need a specific size instead, the target menu has presets for Discord (20 MB) and email (25 MB).

What you get back

A re-encoded video with the before and after sizes shown so you can judge for yourself. Compression always trades some detail for size, and the tool does not hide that: compare the result before you delete the original.

Output is MP4 where your browser can encode it and WebM otherwise. It is never HEVC.

MP4 questions

Does compressing an MP4 reduce its quality?

Yes, some. Video compression is lossy, so a smaller file means less detail. Check the result before replacing the original.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

Not on the free option. The compression runs inside your browser on your own device, so the video is never sent to a server. The page shows a note after each job saying it ran on your device.

What if my browser cannot compress it, or the file is too big?

The in-browser option accepts files up to 2 GB and needs a current version of Chrome, Edge, or Safari. If your browser cannot do it, or the video is larger than that, the page says so instead of failing quietly, and the paid server option handles bigger files and exact target sizes.
